COVID-19: Guidelines for visitors

From 28th May 2020

The garden centre, arboretum and cafe are now open to visitors from 10am-4pm daily.

Following the recent Government announcement that paid attractions can now reopen, we are pleased to be able to welcome visitors to Batsford once again. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please note the following information and guidelines when visiting:

  1. Families from the same household and also dogs on leads are welcome in the arboretum and cafe, however please note the separate guidelines for visiting the Garden Centre below
  2. Please do not visit Batsford if you have any symptoms – fever, coughs, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. See NHS guidelines for further information.
  3. We will be operating our 'fast track' system to allow as many people to access the arboretum without entering the main building as possible
  4. Entrance admission tickets MUST be purchased in advance online HERE. Batsford members do not need to book a timed slot and can show their valid membership card at the entrance as before.
  5. Existing Batsford members will be offered a 10-week extension on their membership when it is due for renewal.
  6. We ask that contactless payment is used wherever possible (including Garden Centre payments).
  7. Please ensure you continue to observe social distancing and maintain 2 metres distance from other visitors and staff. Please be patient if asked to queue at <2m> spacings near the fast track entrance, our staff will be trying their best to give you access to the arboretum as quickly and as efficiently as they possibly can working within the restricted government guideline conditions.
  8. Avoid touching surfaces (such as gates or hand-rails) and your face. Please follow Public Health England advice on hygiene.  We have 70% alcohol hand gel which is available in the hand sanitation dispensers near our entrances and toilets.
  9. All visitors must wear face coverings inside our main building, in-line with the new Government guidelines.
  10. Toilets are available to use. Hand sanitizer dispensers are located outside the toilets; please use these before entering and when leaving. Soap and hot water are available inside toilets as well as toilet seat and handle sanitizer dispensers located within the toilet cubicle for you to use.
  11. Please keep your dog on a lead at all times and 2 metres away from other members of the public and staff.
  12. Garden Centre: We have strict limits on the number of people allowed on this part of the site at any one time - a maximum of 30 people. Pets and children are welcome into this area, but please keep children close by and dogs on short leads at all times. To enable everyone to shop as safely and efficiently as possible, we politely ask that customers come prepared with their shopping list.
  13. Please pay attention to instructions provided by our staff. We may put temporary measures in place to safeguard you.
  14. Please do not use areas of the grounds that have been taped off as ‘closed’. These areas could be were the gardeners are working or taped off for your safety.
  15. Please take all your litter home with you, or place it in bins found around the site.
  16. 1st Aid: Please be particularly safety conscious and be aware that it would be very difficult to treat you whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines of <2m>. Staff will help you where possible.  They may have to pass you plasters etc and advise you on minor injuries, only getting physically involved if injuries are extreme. You may be asked politely by staff to attend Moreton A+E which is only 2 miles away (5 minutes’ drive) from Batsford where they will have equipment and protocols in place to protect you from Covid-19 infection whilst you are being treated.
  17. Please Note: The children’s play area is closed to the public until further notice.

Please be safe whilst visiting Batsford.  We really appreciate your help and support and hope you enjoy your visit.
