The Seasons
There are few better places than Batsford Arboretum to enjoy the changing seasons!
Spring
Enjoy impressive displays of spring flowering bulbs – from swathes of snowdrops, aconites, hellebores, daffodils and narcissi, to the beautiful blossom of our magnolias and flowering cherries, followed by swathes of wild garlic, shady glades of bluebells and grape hyacinths and, later in May, our beautiful Davidia (pocket handkerchief) tree.
Summer
Escape the heat with a walk beside the pools and streams or soak up the sunshine beside our beautiful wild flower areas, where you’ll find clouds of forget-me-knots, buttercups, foxgloves and orchids. It’s time for some of our rarer trees to shine too – among them the Californian Nutmeg, Dawn Redwood and Maidenhair Tree.
Autumn
Autumn brings with it a riot of leaf colour ranging from deep butter yellow through to orange reds and crimsons as well as an abundance of berries. It’s a natural fireworks spectacular throughout the autumn months.
Winter
The arboretum is transformed into a winter wonderland with ice, frost and snow adding a magical touch to the many trees, plants and views. You may even see early snowdrops and aconites!
